Harry Maguire steps up a level for Manchester United vs PSG

by Marwan Harraz

Manchester United star Harry Maguire couldn’t have put in a better individual performance than he did vs PSG as he continues his strong bout of recent form.

The English defender has rightfully had his fair share of criticism but whether fans like him or not, it’s difficult to disagree he’s improved tremendously since the start of the season.

Maguire’s Greek tragedy during the break before pre-season naturally saw him fail to deal the pressures of modern football.

The towering centre-back look out of sorts as his future as a player and a captain once appeared to be in question.

However, he’s managed to drag himself out of the depths of hell and came out of matches looking far better recently despite United’s struggles to keep a clean-sheet in their last three matches.

Given Maguire played vs Moise Keane, Neymar and Kylian Mbappe, it’s safe to say those numbers are all the more impressive.

In fairness, even Victor Lindelof looked solid vs PSG and the pair finally seemed to work in cohesion with one another.

Whether or not they’re good enough is a separate issue but their good performances deserves recognition and Maguire’s days of looking over his shoulder may just be over.

Edinson Cavani has made quite an impact since his deadline day arrival at Old Trafford, but how much do you know about our other South American players, past and present? Take our quiz below to find out!
