Ole Gunnar Solskjaer says Edinson Cavani doubtful for tomorrow’s match

by Red Billy

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer says Edinson Cavani is doubtful for tomorrow’s game against Sheffield United.

Speaking at this afternoon’s pre-match press conference, the boss said ‘we have to be mindful of little strains and niggles.

‘Edinson has done well in rehab, still to make the decision if we should risk him because it is a risk to be too early … but I doubt he will be available to pick him tomorrow.’

There was also more bad news injury wise – although not surprising – with Marcos Rojo also injured despite not having played for the senior side this season.

‘Marcos has just felt a niggle in his calf again.

‘He worked really hard to come back, he played a game with the reserves, got a knock there.

‘Worked really hard again then felt something, so he’s hopefully back in January, Marcos.’

Solskjaer also confirmed that other long-term absentees are nearing fitness.

‘Phil [Jones] should be ready by January and Sergio [Romero] has been training hard as well’. Given that neither player is registered for United’s Premier League squad, it could be a signal to other clubs that the pair, and possibly Rojo as well, could be available for transfer.
