Manchester United knocked six goals past old rivals Leeds United at Old Trafford today in a 6-2 victory and in truth there could have been more goals for both teams.
A thoroughly attacking and entertaining game of football was crowned with eight good goals but both sides’ strikers, Anthony Martial and Patrick Bamford, could have had at least two more goals apiece if they’d had been wearing their scoring boots.
United had 14 shots on target in the game, the joint most in the post Sir Alex Ferguson era and it was a match that rolled back the years to the days that the great man was in charge.

Bruno Fernandes scored two goals and recorded an assist but man of the match was arguably Scott McTominay, who scored twice inside the first five minutes and put in one of his most outstanding performances in a red shirt before limping off with what appeared to be a groin injury in the dying minutes.
The victory takes United into third place in the Premier League with a game in hand. They face second placed Leicester City next, knowing that a win will allow them to leapfrog the Tigers and bring them within striking distance of Liverpool at the top.
