Anthony Martial puts in magnificent shift vs Leeds United

by Marwan Harraz

Manchester United star Anthony Martial did not get on the scoresheet vs Leeds United but he did pretty much everything else.

The talented Frenchman has not been in the best goalscoring form this season but his creativity and teamwork have massively improved.

United hammered Leeds 6-2 at home in what was a thrilling clash between the two rivals and Martial was central to much of his side’s good play.

The former AS Monaco man was guilty of missing one or two clearcut chances and while fans were frustrated, it did not stop them from praising his otherwise sensational performance.

Edinson Cavani’s arrival in the summer has put pressure on Martial this campaign and while his shooting boots have gone missing, he’s seemingly turned creator instead.

Liverpool’s Roberto Firminio often gets away with his lacklustre goalscoring record simply because of what he does overall for the team and how he essentially sacrifices himself for the likes of Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah.

Manchester United fans will love Martial for his creativity of late but his situation is different from the aforementioned Brazilian.

After all, supporters will feel the 25-year-old is far too clinical normally to not be on the scoresheet more often.

Martial was United’s top goalscorer last season and fans are hoping to see him rediscover that goalscoring touch once more.

Edinson Cavani has made quite an impact since his deadline day arrival at Old Trafford, but how much do you know about our other South American players, past and present? Take our quiz below to find out!
