Manchester United star Daniel James perhaps didn’t steal the show as others did vs Leeds United but he certainly put in an impressive shift and the statistics back that statement.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer‘s men crushed their rivals 6-2 at Old Trafford and the young Welshman played his part after being selected in the starting XI.
The legendary Norwegian faced criticism pre-kickoff for throwing James back into the starting lineup when a win was absolutely crucial if United were to climb up the table.
However, everyone was rightfully praising Solskjaer’s decision after the former Swansea man repaid the faith that was shown in him.
James got on the scoresheet but it was his overall performance that impressed fans as he ran tirelessly and continuely exposed Leeds’ high line.
Dan James’ possession value (PV) was 16.4% which ranks him 3rd from our players. However, per 50 touches it was 41.1% — the highest of any player.
Basically: he wasn't involved as much but when he was, he was more valuable than anyone else.

Those who criticise James will question whether he has more to offer than just pace but the argument is there to be made that he can be a useful squad player.
He may not be the most creative player or someone who can break teams down but if Manchester United are to be a success, they’ll need a variety of weapons in their arsenal.
Whether James can be one of those weapons or not remains to be seen but he’s shown hints of his quality and is young enough to be given the benefit of the doubt.
Nonetheless, it’s clear Solskjaer is a big fan of his so perhaps those rumours of a loan or move away are built on nothing.
