Manchester United overcame a defiant Wolves defence this evening to win 1-0 in the last Premier League match of 2020. Here are our player ratings for the game:
(A score of 6 is around average.)
David de Gea 7 – A couple of good saves in the first half and excellent stop in the second even though it was later ruled offside.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka 6 – Worked hard going forward, but just doesn’t seem to have the natural instincts needed.
Eric Bailly 8 – Looked strong in defence. Nothing was going to get past him. Makes those around him look like better players.
Harry Maguire 7 – Gave away a few silly fouls in the first half but defended well in the second.
Alex Telles 6 – Looks reluctant to take chances and get forward as he did at Porto. Whether that is team instructions or settling in remains to be seen.
Nemanja Matic 8 – Comfortable on the ball, makes the game look so easy when on form like this.
Paul Pogba 7 – Didn’t impose himself on the game. Some nice passes but needs to make more forward runs. Got better toward the end once Rashford moved over to the right.
Mason Greenwood 7 – One of United’s better players in the first half. Brilliant pass to Bruno that should have led to a goal. Always seems to be the first to be subbed no matter how he plays.
Bruno Fernandes 7 – Not vintage Bruno but still produced the killer pass in the dying seconds to win the game. Phenomenal.
Marcus Rashford 7 – Too ponderous and predictable for the most part but got the winner, so we can’t complain.
Edinson Cavani 7 – Starved of service and battling three centre backs with little support.
Luke Shaw 7 – Looked more positive and aggressive than Telles.
Anthony Martial 7 – Looked reasonably lively.
Scott McTominay 6 – No time to make much of an impression.
Edinson Cavani has made quite an impact since his deadline day arrival at Old Trafford, but how much do you know about our other South American players, past and present? Take our quiz below to find out!
