Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has delivered excellent team news for the Carabao Cup semi-final clash with Manchester City at Old Trafford tomorrow.
Speaking at this morning’s press conference ahead of the game, Solskjaer confirmed that Edinson Cavani would be missing due to his FA suspension, but there are no new injury worries.
‘We’re disappointed not having Edinson involved and of course Phil Jones has been out for a long time, they’re the only two who are not available for selection.
‘We’ll benefit from the rotations we’ve made.’
The statement by implication says that Victor Lindelof must have recovered from his back injury and as such will pose a difficult selection dilemma for the boss after Eric Bailly’s impressive recent form.
Solskjaer was also asked about the seven matches United have played against their neighbours since his appointment and how he feels his side has progressed.
‘We didn’t have the X Factor in the last game, but they’ve been fascinating games and we’ve been getting closer and closer, but results sometimes you can’t control,’ he said.
The manager also said he was relieved that football is still able to continue despite the UK being in lockdown.
‘It’s a hard and difficult situation for everyone … We are privileged to be able to play football under the protocols that we are under, hopefully we’ll be able to continue,’ he said.
‘I think mentally for many it will be a release to watch games now, especially that we’re in full lockdown again, so hopefully we can continue.
‘But we’re doing our best to keep the show on the road.’
The game against City kicks off tomorrow at 7.45pm.
