The former Molde man could do nothing to get a result vs the club’s fierce rivals and the 2-0 defeat means his team are knocked out in yet another semi-final.
Most supporters were still level headed during and after the fixture but plenty took issue with Van de Beek’s lack of minutes.
The young Dutchman only came on as a substitute towards the end of the defeat and fans were confused why he either didn’t start or why he wasn’t subbed on earlier.
Van de Beek has been feeding off scraps this season and Solskjaer has insisted he needs time to settle in before he can feature more often.
Donny van de Beek being subbed on for 4 minutes when we’re trailing 2-0 after not playing over Christmas is insulting.

Feel sorry for van de Beek. Should have been featuring just after half time or even starting tonight. Another semi-final lost for OGS – something he needs to address rapidly.

2-0 down with 3minutes left and then he brings on Van De Beek. Terrible management

On the bright side Donny Van De Beek has come on…
he’s getting 3 more minutes than he usually gets.

Many fans have been impressed by Van de Beek whenever he has played and so that’s why they’re confused over his lack of minutes.
Another factor to consider is how certain stars are underperforming or are in need of rest and yet are still chosen ahead of him.
Solskjaer has had to address rumours over unhappiness with Van de Beek multiple times and has consistently called for patience.
