Ole Gunnar Solskjaer says Amad Diallo could feature vs Liverpool

by Red Billy

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer might be ready to unleash his secret weapon for Manchester United against Liverpool at Anfield tomorrow.

New signing Amad Diallo has been training with the team this week following the completion of his protracted move from Serie A side Atalanta and Solskjaer says he could play some part in the game.
Speaking to Norwegian outlet Dagbladet (via The MEN), the manager said ‘Let him have some time.
‘But whether it is against Liverpool in the league, in the FA Cup, this weekend or in a few weeks it is questionable.
‘We have a very fresh squad. There are only one or two that are questionable for the weekend.
‘I do not rule out that he is in the squad for the Liverpool match. Things can happen. You see how fast things happen over here in England. Suddenly, a team has six players out with coronavirus.
‘So you do not know. I do not want to put any time on it, but he is at least in the group, trains with us and can be chosen in the squad.’
The manager’s words suggest that the Ivorian would only take part tomorrow if a number of other players were ruled out, but he may be tempted to put him on the bench as a wildcard roll of the dice should that be needed against the champions.

Many have likened the signing of Diallo to that of Cristiano Ronaldo in 2003, although in truth Ronaldo, while the same age (18), had much more league experience behind him when he signed for United.

The Portuguese star had played 31 games for Sporting Lisbon, scoring five goals and providing four assists in the Liga Portuguesa and European qualifiers.

Diallo, by contrast, has only made five substitute appearances for Atalanta, with a longest run-out of 22 minutes against FC Midtjylland in the Champions League.

Manchester United have fielded some of the worlds greatest centre backs over the years, but how much do you know about them? Take our quiz below to find out!
