Manchester United players send messages of support to Marcos Rojo after serious long-term injury

by Derick Kinoti

Former Manchester United defender Marcos Rojo sustained a serious injury, an anterior cruciate ligament setback, during Boca Juniors’ game against Sarmiento.

As a result, the defender is set to undergo surgery, with an operation scheduled for next week.

The Argentine is expected to be sidelined for seven or eight months.

The former United star wrote on his social media, “Not the first time (nor will it be the last) I’ve had to stand up after a hard hit. You are already aware of yesterday’s unfortunate play, and the time I will be off the pitch!”

“It’s hard, it’s going to cost, and you have to try to think as little as possible… But I know it’s a matter of time, and after so many years in football I can say I’ve never felt so supported as in these difficult hours!”

“That’s why I want to thank each and every one of you who took a minute of your time to send me your affection and affection. This is definitely the best way to start recovery! Thank you!”

Soon after, there was an outpouring of messages of support and encouragement for the 32-year-old.

The Red Devils’ contingent was led by David de Gea, who wrote, “I love you, buddy!”

Eric Bailly, currently on loan from United with Marseille, was in line to assure Rojo and the world of his unconditional support for him.

Other ex-Reds that followed De Gea and Bailly’s admirable gestures were Juan Mata, Sergio Romero and Ander Herrera.

Rojo joined Boca Juniors from United in 2021 after he was deemed surplus to requirements by former boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Fans still have fond memories of the player who carved out a reputation for himself at Old Trafford for his no-nonsense and ruthless defending. We wish Rojo all the best in his recovery.
