Joao Felix: Jorge Mendes pushing for Aston Villa sale amidst Man United interest

by Derick Kinoti

Joao Felix’s agent, Jorge Mendes, is pushing for an Aston Villa switch for his highly-talented and coveted client.

Felix’s potential move to Villa comes from heavy interest from Manchester United in the 23-year-old Portuguese superstar.

It was recently reported that Felix prefers a move to Old Trafford, where he would arrive as the successor to his national team captain Cristiano Ronaldo.

However, the reliable David Ornstein reports that Villa Park could be a more realistic destination for the disgruntled Atletico Madrid forward, whose heart is set on an exit from the Wanda Metropolitano.

Ornstein reports, ” Aston Villa is an option that Joao Felix’s agent Jorge Mendes is believed to be pushing.”

“He has a strong relationship with the Villa ownership after doing the deal for Unai Emery to be appointed as manager.”

Ito thet also emerged that Arsenal have now entered the race for Felix, with the player a legitimate target for the North London outfit.

Ornstein adds on the Arsenal development, “Some who work in top-level recruitment, however, think Felix may be better suited to Arsenal, given the stylistic fit & their potential need for attacking reinforcements.”

Marca, a Spanish news outlet, corroborates Ornstein that Villa is an option for the player. However, Marca opines that Felix is not especially keen on Emery’s team.

The Portugal international is not attracted to the team or the city.

The player prefers a club with more substance and history – qualities United meets.

It’s still early with regard to where Felix will end up. The Premier League is shaping up to be his next home, and United must ensure they are in the running and eventually front of the queue for a player of that calibre.
