Picture: Cristiano Ronaldo set for Al-Nassr meeting as agreement draws closer

Former Manchester United striker Cristiano Ronaldo is edging closer to a move to Saudi Arabia club, Al-Nassr.

Ronaldo left United in bitter fashion after conducting a venomous interview with British broadcaster Piers Morgan.

In the much-publicized interview, the Portuguese star lambasted the club and manager Erik ten Hag for what he perceived as disrespect on their part.

The 37-year-old also took a swing at some of his teammates, especially the youngsters.

Since then, Ronaldo has been linked with a number of clubs, but the strongest links have originated from the Saudi Pro League, as Al-Nassr circle.

Several European clubs have rejected Ronaldo and his agent Jorge Mendes’ advances, with the player’s wage demands and age being the major sticking points.

However, Ronaldo could finally be set to return to action. The five-time Ballon d’Or winner was pictured in Riyadh airport ahead of a crucial meeting with Al-Nassr club leaders.

Rudy Galetti reports, “Cristiano Ronaldo and Al-Nassr have set all contract details, which they agree on.”

“Before making a choice, Cristiano Ronaldo and his partner [Georgina] want to evaluate Riyadh in terms of environment, atmosphere and living.”

Galetti adds, “If the city suits them, and no offers from Europe arrive, Cristiano Ronaldo will join Al Nassr.”

It’s not yet clear the length of the contract Ronaldo will sign at Al-Nassr.

Some reports have suggested he will sign a two-and-a-half-year deal, while others indicate he will sign a longer one which would allow him to become Saudi Arabia’s ambassador as they seek to launch a bid to host the World Cup in 2030.
