Harry Maguire splashes out on plush Caribbean island holiday villa

Manchester United captain snaps up the Barbados pad for family retreat

by Paul Speller

Manchester United skipper Harry Maguire has added a Caribbean villa to his holiday and property portfolio.

The England star, who came on as a late substitute in United’s dramatic derby-day win over Manchester City on Saturday, snapped up the plush Barbados pad for his family to relax in.

And according to The Sun, Harry and his wife will use the four bedroom resort to relax with their young family.

The up-market property is also a favourite get-away spot for former Three Lions stars Wayne Rooney and Gary Lineker.

Situated overlooking an 18 hole golf course on the Caribbean island, the exclusive Westmoreland resort is a firm favourite with fellow footballers and celebrities alike.

And a source close to the defender has explained why Maguire and his family chose such an idyllic location.

Harry 29, and his wife Fern, 28, “wanted somewhere private to escape with their two children”, they explained.

“It’s been a tough year”, the source added, alluding to the struggles with form the former Leicester man has had in recent months.

Of course, Maguire’s on-pitch struggles aren’t the only issue he has faced, with allegations of assault after an altercation on the Greek island of Mykonos in 2020 still unresolved.

“Harry’s struggled on the pitch and been targeted off it”,  the source said.

“They need somewhere they can unwind”, and understandably so, after what has been a torrid time for the £80 million man.

Maguire and his family will be rubbing shoulders with the stars when they decide to use the holiday home, with Sir Cliff Richard and TV star Denise van Outen being regulars in the course’s swish clubhouse.

And after also investing in a farm close to his family home in Mosborough, South Yorkshire, Harry is also taking care of the future.

“Harry is from Mosborough”, said a source. “When he retires, that will be his long-term home”, suggesting that a life on the farm might be a lot easier than his life in the spotlight at Old Trafford has been.
