Players ratings: Arsenal 3 – 2 Man United

Arsenal beat Manchester United 3-2 today in the Premier League Here are our ratings:

(A score of 6 is around average)

David de Gea 4 – his distribution and decision-making dumbfounds me. Smart save in the 83rd minute.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka 3.5 – some good tackles, as per, but was massively at fault for Arsenal’s first goal. I don’t even think he knew Nketiah was there until the ball was in the back of the net.

Raphael Varane 9 – defensively awesome.

Lisandro Martinez 7 – fantastic quick wit and application to loop the ball over for his goal. Seemed reluctant to progress the ball forward which he normally does with flying colours; his reliance on De Gea restricted United playing into Arsenal’s half.

Luke Shaw 8 – becoming Mr. Consistent, and with that consistently one of the best on the pitch. Was hesitant in defending against Saka, however.

Scott McTominay 3 – shockingly terrible passing. Effective hustle and bustle on occasion, but Arsenal completely dominated the midfield. Did not help Wan-Bissaka out whatsoever for Arsenal’s final goal.

Christian Eriksen 4.5 – struggled to enact an influence upon the game. Didn’t help the fullbacks out either. Usual decent passing.

Antony 5.5 – some excellent touches on the ball, but did not threaten… at all.

Bruno Fernandes 7.5 – quite an all-round commendable midfield display. Lacked any real magic in attack, however.

Marcus Rashford 9 – what a goal. Some of his trickery did not come off, but still threatened and attacked with impetus against White and Tomiyasu every single time he held the ball in the opposition half.

Wout Weghorst 8.5 – brilliant target-man performance. United not yet used to seeking him out in the box though.

Substitutes

Fred 6 – unable to nullify Arsenal’s pressure from midfield.

Alejandro Garnacho N/A – late cameo.
