Ajax forward Mohamed Kudus scouted by Manchester United

Several Premier League clubs keen on Ghana star

by David O'Neill

Manchester United are keeping a close eye on Ajax forward Mohamed Kudus, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The reliable reporter claims that the Red Devils are among a number of Premier League clubs tracking the Ghanaian.

United were strongly linked with the player throughout the tournament, with Erik ten Hag having previously managed the versatile forward.

Unfortunately, Kudus was not able to feature much under Ten Hag during their time together at Ajax, with the Ghana star suffering a string of injuries that kept him out of action for almost an entire season.

Fit and firing, Kudus is now the talk of many a club in Europe.

Having impressed in Qatar during the FIFA World Cup, it is no surprise that Kudus is attracting such interest.

But Ajax are yet to receive any formal offer for the 22-year-old, says Romano.

“At the moment, I’m told that there are no negotiations,” he told Give Me Sport.

“I think we have these rumours because Manchester United scouts, as many others from the Premier League, four or five clubs from the Premier League, sent their scouts to follow Mohamed Kudus at the World Cup, with Ajax.”

While a January move is highly unlikely, United will likely continue to keep a close eye on Kudus as he continues his development in the Eredivisie.

But with the playmaker impressing in the Champions League group stages – during which he scored four times and assisted twice – and then the World Cup, Kudus has perhaps already convinced clubs that he is ready to step up next season.

Whether that next move reunites him with Ten Hag at Old Trafford remains to be seen.
