Manchester United winger Antony has pledged today in a candid social media post today to do better.
Antony became the Eredivisie’s record signing when he joined United in a €95 million deal from Ajax a day before last summer’s transfer deadline.
And whilst his goal tally has been respectable for the Red Devils – five in 19 games – a lack of assists and series of lacklustre performances have seen him face mounting criticism from fans and pundits.
Judging by his tweet today, Antony could be his own worst critic and has vowed to improve.
“Important week for us!!,” he started.
“Seeking to evolve to give my best to the team! It has always been a dream to be here and I will give all I have to honor this club cause we are stronger together!”

Having been subbed off early in all but one of his starts since the World Cup, the Brazilian is coming under increasing pressure to keep his place in the starting XI.
Jadon Sancho is back in training after a lengthy absence and academy graduate Alejandro Garnacho is persistently knocking on Erik ten Hag’s door to start more games.
Facundo Pellistri may also be ready to answer the call on the right wing and there is still a chance that high-flying Amad Diallo will be recalled early from his Sunderland loan, although this is now looking unlikely.
Ten Hag was so determined to land Antony, having been his manager at Ajax, that he must have seen ability that has not yet been shown in a United shirt.
The player’s comments are an encouraging sign that he is determined to repay that faith at the earliest opportunity.
