Chelsea have identified former Manchester United midfielder Andreas Pereira as a possible replacement for Mason Mount.
Mount, who has been linked to United, has refused to sign a new contract at Stamford Bridge and negotiations between the player’s camp and Chelsea have collapsed.
Alongside United, Manchester City and Liverpool are also alive to Mount’s situation at the London outfit.
The Peoples Person conveyed that Newcastle are leading the race to sign the 24-year-old.
Mount’s current deal expires in 2024 and Chelsea have to sell the Englishman this summer to avoid losing him on a free in a year’s time.
Mount recently made a major representation change. He appointed Neil Fewings from Roof to handle his dealings, including all transfer-related business.
Mount’s father had been working on the player’s behalf after he parted company with management company Stellar Football 18 months ago.
According to ESPN’s Rob Dawson, should Chelsea be forced to facilitate Mount’s departure, Andreas Pereira could replace him.
Dawson details, “Chelsea are among the clubs monitoring Andreas Pereira‘s situation at Fulham as they begin considering replacements for Mason Mount, sources have told ESPN. Pereira’s form at Craven Cottage in his first campaign following his summer move from United has also attracted attention from Paris Saint-Germain and Atletico Madrid.”
“Only five players have registered more than his six Premier League assists this season and he is viewed by PSG, in particular, as a cost-effective signing while they deal with Financial Fair Play concerns.”
“Sources have told ESPN that Pereira is happy at Fulham but would find the opportunity to join one of Europe’s leading clubs hard to turn down. His future may also depend on that of Fulham manager Marco Silva, who Pereira credits with getting the best out of him so far this season.”
As per Dawson, the Cottagers value Pereira between £25 million and £35m. The Brazilian also has a relegation release clause of £15m.
Pereira was on the pitch on Sunday as United came from behind to beat nine-man Fulham at Old Trafford and advance to the semi-finals of the FA Cup.
He was taken off and was on the receiving end of warm applause from the crowd.
