Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani has reportedly made a lucrative offer to the Glazers that could hand him an advantage in the Manchester United takeover.
According to The Sun, the Qatari sheikh has offered to host NFL matches in the Middle East.
The glazers own the NFL team Tampa Bay Buccaneers, a reputable side in the competition.
Sources have told the Sun:
“Sheikh Jassim has been very clear he wants to buy the club and has the money to do so.”
“He has been impressed with the Glazers and would like to work with them in the future.”
“Part of his proposal has been that the Glazers could bring their NFL team to Qatar for an exhibition game in the national stadium in Doha.”
“This would help cement Qatar’s stature as a destination for sporting spectacles and offer the Glazers a chance to spread their NFL brand and cash in.”
Sheikh Jassim’s offer would be an excellent opportunity for the Glazers to expand their team’s global appeal.
It could hand Qatar a unique advantage in its bid to buy Manchester United.
Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Sheikh Jassim have both lodged their second offers for the club.
The Raine Group will now analyse the submitted bids and decide what steps to take.
