Amad Diallo got on the scoresheet for Sunderland as the Black Cats recovered from going a goal down to beat Birmingham City at the Stadium of Light.

Birmingham opened the scoring just a minute shy of the half-hour mark through George Hall. Sunderland’s Trai Hume restored parity right before the break.

Diallo produced the most significant contribution of the match in the 75th minute. The United loanee received a superb ball from Jack Clarke before chopping United academy teammate Hannibal Mejbri inside the Birmingham box.

The Ivorian then fired the ball with his left foot into the bottom corner to give Tony Mowbray’s side the lead.

Diallo registered 71 touches of the ball during the 89 minutes he was on the pitch. He embarked on seven dribbles and was successful with five of them.

The winger had an impressive 88% pass accuracy to his name.

Diallo made two key passes and in a dazzling show of his technical ability successfully pinged five long balls.

The 20-year-old won eight of the 11 ground duels he delved into. He was also fouled twice.

Diallo made one clearance, two interceptions and one tackle.

The forward will be hoping that Erik ten Hag is taking note of his scintillating displays in a Sunderland shirt. Recently, Diallo revealed his ambition to come back to Old Trafford and become an established member of the first team.

Fabrizio Romano reports, “Amad really hopes to have a chance at Manchester United next season.”

“He’s dreaming of Man Utd first team since long time — gonna give his best in the pre-season.”

At the moment, Diallo is earning his opportunity.
