Moises Caicedo: Manchester United target publicly declares his preferred transfer destination

Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo has stated his wish to one day play for Spanish giants Real Madrid even as interest in the Ecuadorian from English clubs intensifies.

Caicedo is reportedly a target for Manchester United. The player has admirers at Old Trafford and with Erik ten Hag keen on adding a midfielder to the ranks this summer, Caicedo is a legitimate target.

The Peoples Person relayed that a figure of £80million would convince Brighton bosses to part with Caicedo.

United and other interested parties have not been swayed by the fact that the 21-year-old recently put pen to paper on a new contract at the Amex.

Caicedo gave an interview to Cadena Ser via Fichajes, where he outlined his wish to become a Real Madrid player and win the Champions League.

“It was always my dream to play for Real Madrid,” he said.

“Now I’m doing things very well and why not one day play there and win the Champions League with Real Madrid.”

Fichajes however notes that at the moment, Los Blancos will not explore the possibility of signing Caicedo. The Spanish champions currently have other players on their priority list and Caicedo is not one of them.

Caicedo came close to leaving Brighton during the January transfer window. Arsenal tabled repeated bids to secure the services of the Brighton star but the Seagulls stood firm and rebuffed all their offers.

Caicedo himself took to social media at the time to implore his employers to let him join the Gunners. A switch never materialized but all signs point to the player being scooped up by a bigger club soon.

The Ecuador international expressed this optimism to The Telegraph. He explained his reasons behind trying to force through a move to Arsenal. “I liked them because they have young, talented players and stars but they always have that mindset of wanting more.”

He added, “I’m sure I’m gonna have many more opportunities.”

United should take the midfielder’s words seriously and move swiftly to land his signature. He would be an impeccable addition to the squad and at such a young age, can only get better.
