Eriksen suffered a devastating cardiac arrest while playing for Denmark in Euro 2020.
The United number 14 brought the football world together as everyone united to wish him a speedy recovery and pray for his return.
Eriksen made a stunning recovery to come back to competitive action.
He had a successful spell with Brentford last season, which convinced the Red Devils and Erik ten Hag to secure his services.
The 31-year-old has been a success at Old Trafford since his arrival.
Alongside Bruno Fernandes and Casemiro, Eriksen has cemented his status as one of the United boss’s most important players and one of the first names on the team sheet.
To highlight just how formidable Eriksen has been next to Fernandes and Casemiro, the trio only finally lost their first game in which they have started together on Sunday against West Ham.
Eriksen also made his return to the Denmark national team.
He was a regular presence at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
The 31-year-old warded off competition from other inspirational nominees like motorcyclist Francesco Bagnaia, athlete Jakob Ingebrigtsen, the NBA’s Klay Thompson, cyclist Annemiek van Vleuten and legendary golfer Tiger Woods.
With United firmly locked in a top four battle and with the FA Cup final on the horizon, the Red Devils will need Eriksen to produce a strong end to the season and help his team over the line.
