Fabrizio Romano provides crucial update on “Manchester United-destined” Kim Min-jae

by Derick Kinoti

Nothing is advanced or agreed as it stands between Manchester United and Napoli regarding defender Kim Min-jae.

The Peoples Person recently covered a report which detailed United’s interest in the South Korean superstar.

As per the report, United have presented Kim with a mouth-watering financial proposal worthy of a striker to ditch Napoli and make the switch to Old Trafford.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Kim has a release clause of slightly less than €50 million which is valid for the first few days of July this summer.

The Red Devils are keen to exploit this release clause with Napoli also scrambling to offer the 26-year-old a new deal that would ideally increase the value of his relatively modest release clause.

Italian publication Il Matino revealed that Kim has been persuaded to join United and it’s now only “a matter of details” until the central defender joins the 20-time English champions.

This is backed by La Repubblica via CalcioNapoli24 who relay that Kim is “destined” to join United and become the latest addition to Erik ten Hag’s defensive department.

However, as per Romano, there is still significant work that needs to be done before Kim is signed by United.

Romano says, “Kim Min-Jae [has been] on Manchester United’s list since December — but nothing is agreed or decided at this stage.”

“The release clause will only be valid in July, Man United are interested while Napoli are still offering Kim a new deal.”

Talksport states, “Manchester United are interested in Napoli defender Kim Min-jae but are yet to agree a deal, talkSPORT understands.”

It’s easy to see why United are hot on the trail of Kim. The Scudetto winner has managed an impressive 15 clean sheets in the Serie A this term and has seamlessly replaced Kalidou Koulibaly, who joined Chelsea last summer.
