Manchester United loanee Amad Diallo nominated for Championship Fans’ Player of the Year award

Manchester United loanee Amad Diallo has been nominated for the Championship Fans’ Player of the Year award.

Last month, Amad scooped up Sunderland’s Supporters’ Young Player of the Year award for 2022-23

To emerge successful for the Championship Fans’ Player of the Year prize, Amad will have to ward off significant competition from the likes of Chuba Akpom, Illiman N’diaye, Nathan Tella, Carlton Morris and Victor Gyokeres.

Amad has been sensational with Sunderland although his time with the Black Cats ended on a whimper after the club was beaten by Luton Town in the Championship playoff semi-finals on Tuesday evening.

The United loanee scored a fantastic goal in the first leg at the Stadium of Light but unfortunately, he could not inspire his side to overcome a defensively excellent Luton who made their set-pieces count to win 2-0.

Amad played all 90 minutes and had 68 touches of the ball.

He had a pass accuracy of 72% to his name and only managed to deliver one long ball out of the two attempts he made.

The 20-year-old successfully completed nine of the 11 dribbles he embarked on.

He also won 11 of the 18 ground duels he delved into.

Amad made one clearance and as many tackles against Luton.

The Ivorian’s nomination for the Championship Fans’ Player of the Year award crowns an excellent campaign for the dazzling winger.

He has notched 14 goals and three assists in all appearances for Sunderland this term.

Amad will now get a chance to get into the United senior team and establish himself in Erik ten Hag’s plans.

Ten Hag himself confirmed as much when he said that Amad will be handed the opportunity to prove what he can do.
