Manchester United are working behind the scenes to further strengthen Michael Carrick’s squad before deadline day.
Much has been made about United’s need to bring in a left-back, but the Red Devils have made little progress on that front.
Lewis Hall, Alejandro Balde and Jorge Salinas have all been heavily linked with United but it appears INEOS are not going to make a concrete move for any of the three, for one reason or another.
Interestingly, it appears the club’s hierarchy are pushing to bring in another midfielder.
Manchester United working on signing Louis Page
According to The Independent’s Miguel Delaney, Manchester United’s move for Leicester City midfielder Louis Page has “progressed faster than expected today.”
“The teenage midfielder could now move to Old Trafford for a fee of more than £10m after talks between the two clubs advanced quickly ahead of the transfer window closing,” the report states.
Corroborating the claim, Sky Sports reporter Danyal Khan suggests United are working on securing his signature before tonight’s deadline.

Furthermore, one of the potential outcomes is Page being loaned back to Leicester until the end of the season if the deal gets done.
Earlier this month, Khan reported that the England youth international is keen on joining the Red Devils.
Why Manchester United want Louis Page
Page, who has been capped at U17, U18 and U20 level by England, made his senior breakthrough at Leicester last campaign.
The dynamic midfielder, who has drawn comparisons to Jude Bellingham, was handed 18 appearances in the Championship last term. Page impressed with his athleticism and versatility. He played all across the midfield for the Foxes.
Given United have already signed Andrey Santos, Youri Tielemans and Carlos Baleba to revamp their midfield, Page is unlikely to be regarded as an immediate first-team option in Manchester.
INEOS’s move for him seems to be in line with their aim to sign immensely talented prospects before their price skyrockets. This summer, United have also added Cristian Orozco and Tynan Thompson (both 18) to their ranks.
