Adnan Januzaj is causing quite a stir in Europe

by Sam Peoples

Adnan Januzaj’s future is far from set in stone both at club and country level. His current deal expires at the end of this season (not 2015 as previously reported by The Peoples Person) and negotiations are still ongoing at Old Trafford to get him to sign a new long term deal at the club.

At international level, he is yet to decide what national side he wants to play for. Due to his family, Januzaj is eligible to play for Belgium and Albania. Up until this stage, the 18-year-old hasn’t given any indication as to what nation he wants to represent.

His father is reportedly keen on Albania and so are over 34,000 Albanians on a Facebook page dedicated to showing Januzaj how much they want him.

Spotted by Sport Witnessthe Facebook page titled ‘Adnan Januzaj – say yes to Albania’ was created on 14 August but has racked up over 34,000 likes in just over a month, a testament to just how highly coveted he is.

From engraving his name in a mown lawn to burning it into a metal pipe, the Albanian fans have made it quite clear what decision they want Januzaj to make. Here is a selection of some of the best photos from the page.

It’s pretty incredible how much Januzaj’s profile has grown in the space of 12 months. This time last year, he was playing with United’s U18s off the back of a long term injury and was working his way back to fitness. It was a brilliant season that culminated in U21 Premier League glory and a personal accolade of Reserve Player of the Year, something he followed up with a stunning pre-season and an impressive first team debut.

Albanian fans have got their voice heard and United fans will be hoping to do the same over the next few weeks. David Moyes is confident that Januzaj will sign a new contract soon and all United hopes are hoping that his confidence is not misplaced.

Januzaj will be a superstar in the future and the club needs to do everything in their power to make sure that happens at Old Trafford.
