Fabio sends heartfelt message to Manchester United while Rafael says goodbye to his brother

by Sam Peoples

Fabio has now left Manchester United after officially joining Cardiff City on a permanent deal.

It ends a six-year association with the club for the 23-year-old and a lot of fans will be sorry to see him go because the Brazilian has got so much potential – after all, he was the twin who arrived at Old Trafford with the expectation over his head but through a lack of opportunity, he was never able to fulfill that potential.

There is no bad blood between Fabio and United and he has taken to his official Instagram account to send a heartfelt message to both the fans and the club along with a short video.

He said: “Thank you all the supporters and everybody in the club. The club didn’t help just me but all my family. I will be thankful for rest of my life.”

Rafael has also taken to Instagram to say goodbye to his brother.

“I will miss you my brother keep your smile and being professional like you are god bless your journey,” he said.

This will be the first time that the twins will have been players for two different clubs on a permanent basis and it will be a testing time for Rafael. Last time Fabio left him was when he joined QPR on loan and it was actually the prelude to Rafael’s best year in a United shirt, which is a good omen.

Although Fabio has left United on a permanent basis, I’m still holding on to the fleeting hope that one day Rafael will be our first choice right-back with Fabio at left-back.

Good luck Fabio.
