Hernandez: To be part of Manchester United is an unbelievable feeling

Javier Hernandez has been in Red-Devilish form this season for Manchester United.

In the Premier League alone this season he has eight goals in 14 appearances, a statistic made even more impressive when you consider the fact that 9 of the 14 appearances have been off the bench.

Speaking to ESPN about United, it is obvious how much he is genuinely enjoying his time at Old Trafford.

He said: “To be part of the best part of the club, to be in the changing rooms with players like Van Persie, like Welbeck and last year with Berbatov, they’re world class players.

“The way they play, the way you can learn in each training ground as well as in the game seats, it’s unbelievable that feeling.”

This small snippet tells you all you have to know about Chicharito. He is a part of a rapidly diminishing group of genuinely likable footballers. Every single interview, the 24-year-old Mexican comes across as the ultimate team player always putting the team’s interest in front of his own, never complaining about lack of playing time. And let’s face it, he has a right to feel aggrieved.

Unfortunately for him, to command a starting berth he will have to oust either Wayne Rooney or Robin van Persie, a job not easily  done.

Yet to underestimate his importance to United would be naive as he has shown time and again. If I had to pick one game that epitomised his importance, it would be at Villa Park earlier this season. United found themselves 2-0 down against a struggling Villa side and Sir Alex turned to Chicharito at half time. He responded in the most emphatic manner with two goals and it was his effort that led to the Ron Vlaar own goal.

One criticism of the striker has been that despite his goal scoring record his overall game has been found wanting on occasions. But what has to be kept in mind is that his United career is still in the fledgling stage with this being only his third year but already this season, there has been a marked improvement in his overall play especially with his back to goal.

So what does the future hold in store for Javier Hernandez? Well for starters, goals would be a fairly shrewd guess. With the season approaching the business end, United find themselves competing on three fronts and this would mean Sir Alex rotating his personnel as he feels fit. This means the likes of Chicharito and Welbeck will have opportunities and they could well be instrumental in the title race.

Hernandez is one of the few players who let their performances on the pitch do the talking. I, for one, am all ears.
