Manchester United scout Brazil’s best playmaker who admits Old Trafford is dream move

Manchester United have registered their interest in Brazilian playmaker Everton Ribeiro and have sent scouts to watch him play for Cruzeiro according to reports.

The 24-year-old won the Brazilian league title with Cruzeiro this year and was an integral part to their title success as he currently tops the assist charts with 11 as well as having five goals to his name too.

Lancenet believe United sent scouts to watch Ribeiro ahead of making a move for him but speaking with TuttoMercatoWeb in response to the rumours, Ribeiro insisted that he had not discussed a move away from Brazil just yet.

“I have not talked to my agent yet, I asked [him] to speak only with Cruzeiro and let me concentrate only on the team,” he said.

“We still have more games and I want to end the season in the best way possible.”

Last week, Ribeiro admitted that a move to United would be a dream for him so he would certainly be interested in coming to Old Trafford if David Moyes did make a move for him.

Ribeiro is a playmaker who is known for his ability to play across the front three at the top and versatility is a trait that always puts a winger in good stead at Old Trafford.

Previously, his agent has also made it abundantly clear that a move to Europe is what Ribeiro wants in the future.

He said: “Everton Ribeiro doesn’t want to move to a club in Eastern Europe or Qatar. We are going to avoid intermediary markets. We have a career plan for him. If Cruzeiro accept to sell him, it will be better for him to play for a big European team.”

An adaptable playmaker who can operate on the wings sounds like a remedy for United’s winger woes that have been an ongoing problem for over a year now.

The only issue with a move for Ribeiro is that Cruzeiro only own 60% of his player rights so it would involve a third party like the transfer of Carlos Tevez but at a reported €8 million, he could prove to be fantastic value.

Do you think Manchester United should be looking at signing another playmaker?
