Manchester United should bite Roma’s hand off for €30 million Miralem Pjanic

by Sam Peoples

Earlier this week, reports from a highly respected Bosnian journalist claimed that Manchester United had submitted an undisclosed bid for Pjanic.

Fresh reports from multiple sources suggest that bid was €25 million and that Roma would not listen to any bid under €30 million.

If that is the case, United should pounce at the chance to sign Pjanic for €30 million. Given that we paid £27 million for Marouane Fellaini, it would be a bargain for someone who could add so much to United’s midfield. Also, there are now some question marks about Pjanic’s future.

Roma manager Rudi Garcia has insisted that the signing of Cagliari midfielder Radja Nainggolan will have no impact on the future of Pjanic but the in-demand 23-year-old’s future is under scrutiny right now as Manchester United and PSG have both strongly been linked with a move for him.

Nainggolan, a Belgian international, has joined until the end of the season but has signed a pre-contract that would see him stay at the club until 2018.

However, Garcia has brushed off claims that his arrival affects Pjanic. “I don’t talk about the market,” he said.

“But I can talk about Nainggolan who is a Roma player. Pjanic? Nothing changes.”

Although Garcia insisted that Pjanic’s future isn’t drawn into question by the arrival of Nainggolan, it means that Roma have now signed two new midfielders in January on top of already having Kevin Strootman, Daniele De Rossi, Adam Ljajic and Michael Bradley, so it is likely that somebody will leave the club.

Since Nainggolan’s arrival, Bradley has been linked with a move back to USA but unless Pjanic signs a new deal with Roma, there is certainly every chance that he could be prised away for the right price.
