Manchester United submit an undisclosed bid for AS Roma midfielder Miralem Pjanic claim reports

Manchester United have submitted a bid for AS Roma’s Miralem Pjanic according to Bosnian journalist Mirza Dautbegovic.

The 23-year-old Bosnian has played a major role in Roma’s brilliant start to the season but after being beaten 3-0 by league leaders Juventus at the weekend, Roma sit eight points off top spot in Serie A.

In November, Pjanic insisted he was happy with Roma and had no intention of leaving but as with any player in football, circumstances can change.

A reported fee of €20-25 million is what Pjanic is believed to be worth and from United’s perspective, it would be worth every penny as the influential Pjanic would be the perfect tonic to United’s wispy midfield.

Pjanic is certainly in hot demand as earlier this week, Roma’s sporting director Walter Sabatini confirmed that the club had already rejected a number of offers for Pjanic. He didn’t go as far as naming the clubs who submitted them, although he did rule out Paris St Germain.

While a move may be difficult in January given Roma’s high flying season, Roma have already brought in midfielder Leandro Paredes from Boca Juniors this January and are reportedly close to signing Cagliari’s midfielder Radja Nainggolan.

Given that they already boast a plethora of midfielders including the likes of Daniele De Rossi, Kevin Strootman, Miralem Pjanic amongst others, it would be strange for Roma to buy two more midfielders if they had no intention of letting any of their current squad leave.

Serie A expert Richard Hinman singled out Pjanic as the midfielder who United should sign and given that United have been in talks with Roma over a potential move for Buttner, contact between the clubs has already happened this year so there is every chance that the topic of Pjanic has already been discussed.
