Moyes holds talks with Juventus over double bid for Pogba and Vidal

by Sam Peoples

David Moyes spoke to Juventus club officials and discussed the possibility of signing both Paul Pogba and Arturo Vidal, according to the Daily Mail.

This weekend, Moyes watched the pair in action in Juventus’ 4-1 victory over Cagliari and reportedly talked with Beppe Marotta after the match where he was firmly told if anything was to happen, it would not be until the summer.

As Moyes has reiterated on more than one occasion, he is looking to sign long term targets and if waiting until the summer is the only way to do that, he is willing to wait.

On paper, both players would be absolutely outstanding signings for United but looking at it objectively, there is only one that has even the slightest possibility of moving to us.

Despite The Times also claiming that Pogba has been targeted by United, there is slim to no chance of him returning to Old Trafford.

Juventus have repeated on more than one occasion that they have no intention of selling Pogba and even if they are not able to hold onto him in the summer, a likely bid from PSG would blow United out of the water financially. Also, their bid would have the added factor of giving Pogba the chance to play in his native country.

On the other hand, there is legs to any potential Vidal deal. He would cost in excess of £35 million but United showed with their bids for Cesc Fabregas and Ander Herrera last summer that the money is there.

However, the crux of the matter is whether he would want to leave. Vidal signed a new contract only two months ago with Juventus and is currently sitting top of Serie A. Would he want to come to United where it is going to be a real challenge over the next couple of years?

United’s interest in both Juventus players can only be a good thing even if neither move materialises because the more midfielders we are linked with, the more likely we are to finally sign one of them (Fellaini aside).
