PICTURE: Juan Mata’s squad number at Manchester United unveiled as No. 8

by Sam Peoples

Manchester United have officially unveiled that Juan Mata will wear the No. 8 shirt at Old Trafford.

Rumours had been going wild that Mata had already been given the No. 7 shirt to join the likes of Eric Cantona, David Beckham, Cristiano Ronaldo, Bryan Robson and Sir Bobby Charlton but he will instead take the shirt left vacant by Anderson who is now on loan at Fiorentina.

That leaves the No. 7 shirt open for another player to take it on and Adnan Januzaj has to be the first choice for that shirt (or Cristiano Ronaldo…)

In reality, the shirt number won’t change anything for Mata and he will just be happy to now officially be a United player.
