PICTURE: Thiago Alcantara the lifelong Manchester United fan

by Sam Peoples

All credit to Scott over at The Republik of Mancunia and James Brady for this brilliant spot of Thiago wearing a 1998-2000 Manchester United shirt in an old picture shown during an a Canal+ interview with his father Mazinho (skip to 8.50).

Kids wearing shirts might not mean much but given the growing rumours, it is a great spot.

The 22-year-old has been heavily linked with a move to United ever since his release clause dropped to €18 million.

No official interest has been confirmed by either club but tonight, the reliable Craig Norwood confirmed that Mazinho has indeed visited Manchester to discuss a potential move.

It is the closest to an official confirmation we have had yet as Norwood is typically clued up about transfers given that he is always at the scene snapping away with his camera.

There isn’t expected to be any movement this week given that Thiago is currently away on holiday but with David Moyes officially becoming United manager on July 1, he would be keen to wrap up any deals as early as possible to have his whole squad with him for the 2013 pre-season tour.
