Robin van Persie – Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year

Was it ever going to be anybody else? I doubt it.

Robin van Persie has had an extremely successful first season at Manchester United and finally got his hands on a Premier League trophy after eight years of pain with Arsenal.

Scoring 25 goals along the way, van Persie has been instrumental in United’s Premier League dominance this season but despite how well he has played individually, he continued to be as modest as ever by saying that the whole team deserved the award, not just him. What a gent.

One thing is for sure, the little boy inside Robin van Persie won’t be regretting making the switch from London to Manchester.

Michael Carrick – Players’ Player of the Year

It is hard to argue against Carrick scooping the award after a tremendous season.

Michael Carrick has been the first name on the team sheet for Manchester United all year long. Nicknamed ‘Mr Consistent’ by his fellow players, he seemed delighted to be receiving such a prestigious award.

“You don’t just play for this club, you live for this club.” Michael Carrick

Carrick, who has won five league titles in his seven years at United, has helped to hide the cracks in a fairly weak midfield and established himself as one of the best midfielders in the country this season, rightly earning himself a spot on the  PFA Team of the Year.

Carrick, who has already featured 318 times for United, has been undroppable this season and has notched up over 40 appearances and at 31, by United’s standards, has plenty of years ahead of him. It’s Carrick, you know?

Robin van Persie – Goal of the Year

It comes as no surprise that Robin van Persie’s astonishing goal against Aston Villa came out on top.

Robin van Persie has played down his part in the goal at tonight’s awards by saying it was Wayne Rooney who made the goal and that all he had to do was ‘adjust his body’ to slot the beautifully weighted pass from Rooney home.

There was only going to be one winner for the goal of the year wasn’t there?

januzaj

Adnan Januzaj – Denzil Haroun Reserve Player of the Year

It is hard to argue against Januzaj picking up the Reserve Player of the Year award. He has made phenomenal progress that has culminated in a squad number in the senior squad and this Player of the Year trophy in what has been just his first full season with the club.

The Belgian is naturally gifted. You can see it when he has the ball at his feet. A real technician, he has all the hallmarks of a United player and given his progress this season, there is nothing to suggest he can’t continue and work his way into the senior set-up soon.

Ben Pearson - Jimmy Murphy Academy Player of the Year

Ben Pearson – Jimmy Murphy Academy Player of the Year

Pearson was the outstanding candidate to win the Academy Player of the Year. He has worked hard and progressed a lot in the past season after being kept out with illnesses but he battled past all of that and was a deserving winner.
