Shinji Kagawa: Please ask David Moyes why I’m not in the side

Shinji Kagawa has voiced his frustrations at being left out of Manchester United’s side by David Moyes.

Speaking after Japan’s 3-1 victory over Ghana, where Kagawa scored an excellent equaliser, he admitted that not playing at Old Trafford was starting to effect him.

“Please ask David Moyes why I’m not in the side,” Kagawa told AFP.

“It is frustrating not playing but to score a goal like that gives me confidence. Hopefully I can take that back to my club with me and things will improve.”

Fans have asked Moyes the same question and the 24-year-old has clearly shown that his fitness can no longer be used as a reason to leave him out of the team.

His form was fantastic during the international break and it won’t be long before he gets his opportunity to play regular football again, something Kagawa admits he misses.

He continued: “It’s hard not playing regularly. Some days the frustration is worse than others – it comes in waves.

“So it’s nice to come back to Japan and get to play, and to score felt good. I missed one in the first half tonight so when the chance opened up in the second for me to shoot I wanted to take it on.

“I think I caught it flush – I don’t remember. I just have to keep working hard and keep pushing for my chance. When I get back it will be a challenge to get into the team.”

Kagawa being left out of the side against Liverpool drew frustration from the fans as well as Kagawa because his creative style of play was the cutting edge that United missed on the day, and Kagawa has thanked the fans for their support.

“It’s nice to feel support but I have to do my talking on the pitch,” he added.

“When I get back to my club I have to wait for my chance in the Champions League and the Premier League. I’m sure my chance will come.”

United have only played three Premier League games this season so there is plenty of time left for Kagawa to have an impact this season but when his form is as good as this, it would be strange if Moyes still decides to not play him.
