Wayne Rooney a major doubt for Liverpool game after being hospitalised

by Sam Peoples

Wayne Rooney is a major doubt for tomorrow’s game against Liverpool after suffering a head injury in training.

Reports suggest that Rooney was kicked in the head by accident at the AON Training Complex (Carrington) and had to go to hospital to get stitches.

There has no been no confirmation from the club so we will have to wait until the team news tomorrow before kick-off.

It would come as a massive blow to both Manchester United and Rooney if he is ruled out of tomorrow’s game against Liverpool because he has just returned from hamstring and shoulder injuries and from Rooney’s perspective, missing out on a chance to play Liverpool in their own back yard would be gut wrenching.

Against Chelsea, Rooney turned back the clocks with an energetic and enthusiastic performance that looked more like the Rooney of old so this injury would be terribly timed in regards to getting him back to full match fitness.

David Moyes won the battle with Jose Mourinho who has now backed down from trying to sign Rooney and it looks like he will stay at United this season, so we need to get him back to full fitness as soon as possible.

But if Rooney is to miss out on a trip to Anfield, it would be the perfect opportunity for Shinji Kagawa to step up to the plate. He has yet to feature for Moyes because of a lack of match fitness but this could be the chance he has needed to prove himself to Moyes in the Premier League.
