The truth behind Ronaldo’s £80 million return to Manchester United

by Sam Peoples

Manchester United are on the brink of bringing Cristiano Ronaldo back to Old Trafford in a deal worth £80 million according to the Daily Star.

That’s a fantastic world exclusive for the Daily Star to have but it looks a little bit transparent when taken in comparison to stories that the paper has ran in the past month.

11 July 2013: EXCLUSIVE: Manchester City have made a late move to hijack Manchester United’s attempt to sign Cristiano Ronaldo.

1 August 2013: WORLD EXCLUSIVE: Manchester United on the brink of mega deal for Cristiano Ronaldo reunion.

So within the past three weeks, the Daily Star’s Duncan Wright has had two separate exclusives that BOTH Manchester clubs were in for Ronaldo with nothing to back up their argument.

Although, ex-president Ramon Calderon has claimed that Madrid are preparing for Ronaldo’s exit by pursuing Gareth Bale and Ronaldo’s ego would certainly take a huge hit if Bale was to take his crown as the world’s most expensive player.

Unfortunately, it looks like a classic case of selling papers for the Daily Star when it comes to Ronaldo news so I wouldn’t look too much into these rumours that have emerged.
