Under-17 World Cup MVP wonder-kid clarifies Manchester United contract rumours

Kelechi Iheanacho has said that Manchester United nor any other club has made an approach for his signature following his stunning Under-17 World Cup but admitted his dream was to play in England.

In the seven game tournament, Ilheanacho scored six goals and got seven assists en route to Nigeria being crowned champions and was given the Golden Ball for his performances.

Despite his brilliant tournament, no club has approached him according to the youngster.

“Neither Manchester United nor any other club has ever approached me,” he told Vanguard.

“Although, I will like to play professional football, I don’t need to make any mistake in the choice of club, so I haven’t made myself available for any club.

“But now that the tournament is over, my agent and parents have a lot to do in my decision to move ahead in my future career.

“I will prefer to start my professional career in England, than any other country in the world,” Iheanacho said.

Ilheanacho’s four goal haul against Mexico in the group stage was his personal highlight from the tournament.

United are always looking for the most talented youngsters to bring to Carrington and Ilheanacho’s desire to play in England could play into our hands if we made a move for him.
