United face competition for €45 million midfielder as Arsenal join race to sign him

by Sam Peoples

Manchester United once again sent scouts to watch William Carvalho in action this weekend but for the first time, Arsenal sent their own scouts according to A Bola

The 20-year-old impressed in Sporting’s 4-0 victory over Pacos de Fereira and scored the opening goal with an opportunistic header thanks to a flick on from a corner.

United have sent scouts on multiple occasions this season to see Carvalho but now that he has been named the newcomer of the year by Sporting, Arsenal have registered an interest of their own.

Sporting want to secure full rights to Carvalho instead of their current 60% stake, which would make any move away from the club a more straight forward process and with a release clause of €45 million, it is clear that he is rated very highly.

For someone so young, he seems to be a step ahead of the players around him and plays with a very cool head despite his big, physical presence.

There must be real interest from United in Carvalho as we have repeatedly sent scouts out to Sporting to watch him. David Moyes is very stringent in his research before he makes a move for a player, which certainly falls in line with our current weekly following of Carvalho’s progress.

Ronaldo gave advice to the youngster away on international duty with Portugal and if he judged his potential move on the success that Ronaldo had at Old Trafford following his move from Sporting, it would certainly put us in a strong position.

Arsenal are unlikely to be the last Premier League team to show their interest in Carvalho and with the likes of Leverkusen, Villareal and Feyenoord also present yesterday, the interest in Carvalho is growing on an almost weekly basis.
