Wigan keen to provide a glimpse into Manchester United’s future

by Sam Peoples

Manchester United’s Under-21s striker Will Keane is reportedly set to link up with Nick Powell on loan at Wigan this week ahead of their clash with Brighton.

Greg Farrimond, of the Wigan Evening Times and Observer, believes that the move is imminent and it could see Keane leave Carrington very soon after he made his return from fitness following his year out due to injury.

Earlier this season, we saw Nick Powell join Wigan on loan for the season and he has gone on to have a fine start to his loan spell with five goals in 14 appearances, including a brace in Wigan’s first ever win in Europe. He has been tipped for great things by current manager Owen Coyle who will now look to emulate that success with Keane if he does join on loan.

Keane has been in good form since his return at United and subsequently earned his first England Under-21 call up off the back of it.

Now that Keane is back in the team and among the goals after getting over such a bad injury, it seems he is once again a sought after talent first by Gareth Southgate’s England Under-21s and now Coyle’s Wigan.

The concern would be that a loan spell in the Championship so soon after returning from a long term injury would be physically demanding for Keane but if David Moyes and his staff thinks he is ready, then they are best placed to judge.

A free flowing duo of Keane and Powell could be a glimpse into United’s future given how highly rated both players are at Old Trafford.

Do you think this loan would be the right move for Will Keane?
