Wilfried Zaha’s outstanding performance including brilliant goal for U21s shows his talent

Wilfried Zaha scored a fantastic goal for Manchester United’s Under-21s in a performance that showcased the best of his talent.

After great work to hold off three defenders, the 21-year-old executed a lovely one-two with Fabio and fired in the shot with a first time effort that left the keeper with no chance.

It was an excellent show of how strong he is running with the ball at his feet and the finish was fantastic.

In the first half, Zaha cut a frustrated winger from his left wing position as Blackburn doubled up on him. In the first ten minutes, he tried to skip past his defender but was tackled and he fired wildly just five minutes later.

However, he was the heart and soul of United going forward in the second half. He almost scored an out-of-this-world of the goal when he jinked between three Blackburn defenders, turned them inside out a few times and only the post robbed him of an excellent goal.

Soon after he nearly scored a brilliant volley when the ball dropped to him from a defender’s headed clearance. It was great technique from Zaha to get his shot on target.

Following United’s goal, Zaha had an extra spring in his step and Blackburn couldn’t stop him. At one point, there were six Blackburn defenders around him but he still got the pass away and drew a wild foul.

Zaha will no doubt be pleased with that performance especially after a difficult and tight first half. Instead of letting his shoulders drop, he pushed on and Fabio being moved to left back created some fantastic link-up play between the pair.

David Moyes has been reluctant to play Zaha but if he can put in the sort of performances like he did in the second half tonight on a regular occasion, then he’ll certainly push himself towards more first team opportunities.
