Manchester United midfielder Casemiro delivered another top-class performance, this time to help the team to a 2-1 victory over Brentford.

United win

United are just one step away from securing Champions League football after they clinched all three points against Brentford on Monday evening.

Casemiro broke the deadlock 11 minutes in, demonstrating some clever movement and determination to get on the end of a headed delivery from Harry Maguire and nod it into the back of the net.

The goal marked the Brazilian’s ninth of the season, in what is the most prolific campaign of his career.

United made it 2-0 just before the break through Benjamin Sesko. Amad won the ball in the middle of the park and passed it on to Bruno Fernandes, who raced up the pitch and set up the Slovenian striker to finish off a deadly counter-attack.

The Red Devils were solid in the second half as they neutralised the Bees. Mathias Jensen pulled one back for the visitors in the 87th minute but United held on for the win.

Michael Carrick’s men now remain in third place in the Premier League table, three points above Liverpool in fourth position.

Multiple United players delivered outstanding performances, including the man who broke the deadlock – Casemiro.

Casemiro masterclass

The veteran midfielder touched the ball 85 times and managed an impressive pass accuracy of 86%.

Beyond his goal, he contributed a lot defensively at the heart of United’s midfield, winning 11 of the 12 tackles he attempted.

Casemiro also made nine clearances and won two important fouls towards the end of the game, which helped United get over the line. He also pitched in with two interceptions.

The 34-year-old made seven passes into the final third, while firing three shots.

Having announced in January that he would depart Old Trafford upon the expiry of his contract, Casemiro has since played with unrelenting heart, leaving it all on the pitch as his farewell tour nears its end.
