Manchester United have missed out on Mateus Fernandes after refusing to meet West Ham United’s demands.
Tottenham Hotspur have now reached an agreement with their London rivals to make Fernandes the biggest sale from a Championship club by some distance.
United are also closing in on completing the signing of a highly rated talent from a Championship outfit, but it is unlikely to excite fans as much as Fernandes’ arrival would have.
Kit Margetson leaving Swansea for Manchester United
According to Only Swans (via Y Clwb Pel-droed), Manchester United are set to sign teenage goalkeeper Kit Margetson from Welsh club Swansea City.
Furthermore, the Wales U21 international is expected to join a National League club on loan this summer after finalising his move to United.

The 19-year-old, who is the son of former Swansea and Wales goalkeeping coach Martyn Margetson, joins the Red Devils after spending last season on loan at Cymru Premier club Connah’s Quay Nomads.
United’s move for Margetson, who is 6ft 4in tall, did not materialise out of the blue.
In March, The Peoples Person relayed a report claiming United’s highly respected goalkeeping scout Tony Coton was in attendance at a Cymru Premier fixture to watch Margetson.
In addition to United, other Premier League clubs such as Brighton & Hove Albion, Crystal Palace and Liverpool are also understood to be admirers of his.
Manchester United want a senior goalkeeper
United are open to signing a new goalkeeper to provide cover for Senne Lammens. However, given Margetson’s limited experience, he is likely to be part of the club’s youth setup rather than the first team.
The Premier League giants have already agreed to send Andre Onana to Trabzonspor for another loan spell. They are also prepared to part ways with Altay Bayindir.
Recently, The Peoples Person covered a report claiming United are interested in Scottish shot-stopper Angus Gunn and Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Sam Johnstone as potential options for the current number two position.
