Arsenal have reportedly become the latest club to join the race for RB Leipzig winger and Manchester United target Yan Diomande.

Diomande interest

While most of the focus has been on midfield reinforcements this window, United are also aiming to secure additions in the attacking department and on the left wing in particular.

Uncertainty continues to surround the future of Marcus Rashford. As it stands, Rashford is set to be reintegrated into the United squad upon the conclusion of his mandatory three-week World Cup break. This comes after Barcelona opted against making his signing permanent.

Rashford spent the 2025/26 season out on loan with the Blaugrana. He contributed 14 goals and as many assists across all competitions, helping the Catalan giants retain their La Liga crown.

Yet when it came to backing up their words with action, Barcelona wilted and retreated, instead opting to move for Anthony Gordon. Diomande is believed to be among the targets United are keeping tabs on, alongside the likes of Iliman Ndiaye and Ismaila Sarr.

However, a definitive move for a winger is likely dependent on whether or not United manage to offload Rashford.

Having lit up the Bundesliga with a superb RB Leipzig campaign, Diomande took his form onto the World Cup stage. The Ivorian dazzled with his speed and skill, though Norway ultimately proved his undoing. Yet the performances have only enhanced his growing status.

Alongside United, Paris Saint-Germain and Liverpool have also been credited with an interest in the 19-year-old.

PSG appear to be frontrunners though and have an agreement over personal terms in place with Diomande’s camp.

Now, journalist Ben Jacobs has revealed that Arsenal have launched an enquiry to explore the conditions of getting a deal for Diomande over the line.

Diomande latest

Jacobs wrote on X, “Arsenal made an enquiry for Yan Diomande, as reported yesterday on @talkSPORT. Purely exploratory at this stage.”

“PSG continue to work on a deal, while Leipzig hope Diomande signs a new contract and/or stays for at least an extra season.”

“Diomande has made it clear he favours PSG (terms on a five-year contract are in place) as well as a right-sided role. Player equally capable of both sides, but favours more minutes on the right.”

This was corroborated by Fabrizio Romano who said on his YouTube channel, “I told you last week about Arsenal calling.”

“I told you that there is interest from several clubs trying to understand, is the deal closed, is there a chance to enter the move? So this is why Paris Saint-Germain are aware of the situation, but PSG remain in negotiations with Leipzig.”

“PSG are not leaving the track. PSG remain in talks with Yan Diomande, with Leipzig for Yan Diomande. So, that remains the case. Should anything change, I will let you know.”

It would appear that any serious pursuit of Diomande by United would require a considerable effort to bridge the current gap.
