Michael Carrick takes his new-look Manchester United side to the East coast this lunchtime to play Hull City in the opening game of the new season.
Here are the confirmed starting XI and substitutes for today’s game.
Defence
Senne Lammens is in goal.
Nous Mazraoui is at right-back, getting the nod over Diogo Dalot.
Carrick has chosen Harry Maguire and Ayden Heaven as his starting centre-backs. Lisandro Martinez has only 30 minutes under his belt so far following his World Cup exploits, but may be introduced for minutes in the second half.
Matthijs de Ligt is back in training but not yet ready to take part.
Luke Shaw is United’s left-back today.
Midfield and Attack
Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans are the central midfield pivot. Kobbie Mainoo is probably not deemed match fit by Carrick, having been unplayed by Thomas Tuchel during England’s World Cup campaign.
Manuel Ugarte is a long-term injury while Mason Mount is nursing a minor injury.
Bruno Fernandes is in the number 10 role.
Matheus Cunha is up front with Patrick on the left wing and Bryan Mbeumo on the right. Amad has been excellent on the right wing in pre-season, but makes way for the more experienced star.
Ben Sesko is back in training but not match fit, having missed the whole pre-season. He is on the bench and could see a few minutes in the second half.
Substitutes
United have a strong bench. Karl Darlow has recovered from injury to take his place as the substitute keeper. He is joined in the dugout by Diogo Dalot, Lisandro Martinez, Leny Yoro, Kobbie Mainoo, Shea Lacey, Marcus Rashford, Ben Sesko and Josh Zirkzee.
