Galatasaray are reportedly set to make an approach for Bruno Fernandes, with the Turkish side prepared to table an eye-watering offer to the Manchester United captain.
Priority Target
Fresh from their fourth Süper Lig title in a row, Galatasaray are prepared to spend big this summer to try to replicate their domestic success in the Champions League.
A policy of pursuing high-profile players from top European clubs – as the capture of Victor Osimhen from SC Napoli demonstrated – has seen the Lions zero in on Fernandes as their priority target.
Okan Buruk, Galatasaray’s manager, is understood to have told his bosses that a new No.10 is the most urgent priority for his side – with Fernandes considered the best in that position anywhere in Europe.
Turkish outlet Fanatik claims Galatasaray are prepared to “pay a fortune” to lure the 31-year-old Portugal international to Istanbul.
Big-Money Offer
Manchester United have been locked in talks over an extension to Fernandes’ contract, which is set to expire next summer. The Red Devils hold the option to trigger an automatic one-year extension, however.
Crucially, the contract also contains a release clause worth £57 million for clubs outside England. This has sparked interest from Serie A powerhouse Juventus, as well as a host of clubs in Saudi Arabia.
Fanatik states these negotiations have failed to produce an agreement, leading Galatasaray to plot an audacious raid to take advantage of the stalemate.
The Turkish club have informed Fernandes’ representatives of their willingness to offer him a “massive salary”, with a plan to “sit down with Manchester United and Fernandes in the coming days”.
There is virtually zero chance that the former Sporting CP star will entertain this prospect, however, no matter how much Galatasaray are willing to offer. He already turned down far greater sums from the Saudi Pro League last summer, signalling his desire to remain competing amongst Europe’s elite.
While the Süper Lig champions will be competing in the Champions League next season, Türkiye is not considered one of the continent’s top five leagues, whereas the Premier League is widely seen as the elite of the elite.
Fresh from a record-breaking season at the Theatre of Dreams, O Capitão will not be leaving to start a new chapter in Istanbul at this stage of his career, given that he is still firmly in his prime.

Final Thoughts: The Peoples Person Reliability Assessment
Overall credibility: 4/10
Why?
Galatasaray’s interest in Bruno Fernandes has been widely reported in Istanbul.
The Süper Lig club have history for targeting big-name players with promises of riches to arrive at RAMS Park.
Bruno Fernandes would have no interest in leaving Old Trafford for any other club than a European heavyweight.
Other reliable outlets have claimed contract talks are ongoing, with expectation of a breakthrough before the summer is over.
No reports outside of Türkiye have linked the Portuguese with Galatasaray.
TPP view: We believe Galatasaray may hold an interest in Bruno Fernandes, but the idea that club-to-club negotiations are about to be opened with Manchester United should be taken with a pinch of salt.
