Manchester United youngster Jacob Devaney has joined Hibernian on loan for the season.
Devaney’s rise
Devaney joined the club at just six years old and made his Manchester United under-18 debut at the age of 15.
He captained the under-21 side and joined St Mirren on loan in January.
Devaney played 16 games for the Scottish side, scoring one goal.
The midfielder has also represented the Republic of Ireland under-19 side nine times in his career.
The Irishman also grabbed a goal for the senior side in a 5-0 demolition of Rosenborg in July.
Hibernian loan
After impressing on loan last season in Scotland, Devaney will get the chance to show what he can do over the course of an entire season.
The club’s official X account posted, “Jacob Devaney is set to spend the 2026/27 season on loan at Hibernian. Best of luck in Scotland, Jacob!”

Hibs’ official website reported, “Hibernian FC is delighted to announce the signing of Jacob Devaney from Manchester United on a season-long loan, with an option to make the move permanent.”
The club’s Head Coach David Gray commented, “we’re really pleased to bring Jacob to the Club. He already has experience of Scottish football and knows the demands of the Premiership, which will be important as he settles into the squad.”
Devaney was also given the chance to comment on the move and he claimed, “when I found out that I had the opportunity to come and play for Hibs it was a no-brainer for me and my family. It was one of the clubs last year that I turned up to the stadium and thought ‘wow this is a big club’, so I’m really excited to be here.”

Devaney could get his first taste of action this Thursday in the crucial second leg of the Conference League qualifier against Gent, with the score evenly poised at 0-0 after the first match in Belgium.

Unfortunately he can’t play against Gent on Thursday as the squad is registered before the 1st leg . Looks a great signing for the Hibees 👍
