Manchester United midfielder Kobbie Mainoo produced a sensational performance to help his side to a dominant 5-2 victory over Ipswich Town.

Bruno Fernandes registered a hat-trick as United recorded their first victory of the 2026/27 season in front of their home fans.
Leif Davis stunned the Old Trafford faithful when he put the Tractor Boys ahead, latching onto a cross to fire past Senne Lammens.
But United responded in kind just before the break. Matheus Cunha capitalised on a slip from Marcelino Nunez to set up Fernandes, who rifled the ball home to make it 1-1. United went ahead through an own goal by Jacob Greaves, after VAR judged that Harry Maguire’s handball in the build-up was of no consequence.
Fernandes converted from the spot to make it 3-1, with Cunha having won the penalty after a sublime Mainoo pass.
The United skipper capped off an inspired display with a third cheeky finish and an assist for Bryan Mbeumo.

Goals may have eluded him, but Mainoo was the pulse of this United side, delivering a near-perfect performance from the opening minute until he made way.

During the time he was on the pitch, Mainoo managed an individual pass accuracy of 90%.
He registered 14 defensive contributions and won nine of the 11 ground duels he contested, highlighting a facet of his game that has come on leaps and bounds in recent months.
The England international’s influence was underlined by a staggering 10 line-breaking passes, a remarkable tally for any midfielder.
Mainoo’s dribbling was equally impressive, completing four of the five take-ons he attempted.
