Manchester United appear ready to make a strong push for a left-back signing.
The Red Devils are close to wrapping up their midfield revamp, with positive talks ongoing with Brighton & Hove Albion for the transfer of Carlos Baleba.
Baleba will be United’s third midfield signing after Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans. INEOS reportedly have no plans to stop after that, as they are keen to strengthen another area of concern.
New left-back signing “almost guaranteed” at Manchester United
Earlier today, Fabrizio Romano suggested that he expects Manchester United to make two more signings after Carlos Baleba.
The Italian journalist underlined that a pursuit of a striker hinges on Joshua Zirkzee’s future, while a move for a left-back is “almost guaranteed”.
At the time, he did not mention any particular target for the position. United have been strongly linked with Lewis Hall of Newcastle United and Racing de Santander’s Spanish teenager Jorge Salinas.
Now, Romano has shared a more concrete update regarding United’s plans to bring in a player capable of providing genuine competition to Luke Shaw this season.
Another Spanish full-back on Manchester United’s radar
According to Romano, Manchester United “keep looking” for a new left-back, which is considered “next priority” after Baleba.
More importantly, it is understood there have been calls between United and Alejandro Balde’s camp over the last few days.

Romano says United have approached the Barcelona full-back to understand if an exit from Camp Nou is possible and what it would take to secure his services.
The 22-year-old Spaniard is known for his attacking flair and explosive pace. However, Alejandro Balde has struggled for regular minutes under Hansi Flick due to persistent injury concerns.
Still, Balde is reported to be happy at Barcelona. As such, United would have to do some work to convince the La Masia graduate to move to Old Trafford.
