Amid all the talk of a midfield revamp, Manchester United still have the best attacking midfielder in their ranks.
Bruno Fernandes was on fire last season, breaking the Premier League assist record while clinching awards galore.
He was named the FWA Footballer of the Year and Premier League Player of the Season, while the Portuguese playmaker also won the Sir Matt Busby Fans’ Player of the Year and Players’ Player of the Year award.
The United skipper’s current deal is valid until next year, with the club having the option of extending it by a year.

However, INEOS are keen to tie down their talisman to a new and improved deal, and are even willing to break their wage structure in order to get the Portugal international to put pen to paper.

Such a step was seen as necessary owing to the increased interest in the 31-year-old’s services from Turkiye and the cash-rich Saudi Pro League.
Italian journalist Gianluigi Longari has claimed that talks between Bruno Fernandes and United have hit a deadlock.
Sensing this opportunity, several clubs have reached out to the former Sporting CP superstar‘s agent.
Contract extension talks have stalled
“There is still no agreement between Bruno Fernandes and Manchester United for the renewal of the Portuguese player’s contract.
“The latest contact did not lead to a positive outcome, and several other clubs have reached out to his agent,” the journalist wrote on X (formerly Twitter).
United are still not giving up, and further talks between both parties have been planned in the coming days.
Rival suitors planning to move in for the kill
“New meetings with the Red Devils are expected, but for now, no agreement has been reached yet.”
Suddenly, the focus has shifted from whom the club will sign to whether INEOS can keep hold of their best player. Fans will be hoping this mess can be cleared up soon.
